Passenger In I-10 Rollover Dies In Palm Springs Hospital

A woman who was thrown from a SUV that rolled over on Interstate 10 on Tuesday died from her injuries.

The Riverside County Coroner identified her as 84-year-old Violet Nikas of Phoenix, Ariz.

The accident happened around noon on Tuesday, about 15 miles east of Indio.

The coroner’s report said Nikas was not wearing her seatbelt in the back seat of the SUV, and was thrown when the vehicle flipped.

She was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where she died the same day.
