Firefighters Extinguish Wildfire On Highway 74

CalFire and U.S. Forest Service firefighters were able to extinguish a wildfire that was burning along Highway 74 above Palm Desert on Wednesday.

The fire, which was burning just beyond Pinyon Pines, was knocked down in about 2 hours, according to firefighters.

There were no homes threatened, although there were about 15 homes on the crest of a hill overlooking the fire.

One caller into KESQ said her 14-year-old daughter first spotted the fire while she was out on the home’s deck. Her mother quickly called firefighters.

Firefighters were still on the scene looking out for hot spots and flare-ups.
