Series Of Earthquakes Rattle So. Calif.
A 3.6 magnitude earthquake shook parts of the high desert area of Southern California on Monday after another quake hit just an hour before.
The quake hit at 2:26 p.m. and was centered about 40 miles north of Yucca Valley and 40 miles north, northwest of Twentynine Palms.
A 4.0 magnitude earthquake hit the exact same area at 1:05 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Both quakes were preceded by another on Monday morning measuring 3.1 in magnitude. It hit an area near Julian, southwest of the Salton Sea on Monday morning.
The U.S. Geological Survey reports the earthquake hit at around 10:30 a.m. 12 miles east, southeast fo Julian, 14 miles north, northeast of Pine Valley and 17 miles south of Borrego Springs.
There were no reports of damage or injuries from any of the earthquakes.
