Blood Donors To Get Free Humana Challenge Tickets

Community Blood Bank donors will receive a free one- day ticket voucher for the Humana Challenge golf tournament, which runs Jan. 16- 22, a tournament spokesman said today.

The tournament provided 1,100 ticket coupons to the Community Blood Bank branches at 39000 Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage and 46100 Rubidoux St., Suite C9, in Indio.

Blood donors will be given ticket vouchers — which can be redeemed for tickets at the gate during tournament week — on a first-come, first-served basis through Jan. 21 while supplies last, spokesman Toby Zwikel said.

Tickets will also be distributed at scheduled Community Blood Bank mobile blood drives in the Coachella Valley.

Last year’s tournament ticket giveaway yielded about 1,200 units of blood, Zwikel said.

“Our longstanding ticket program with the tournament is quite well- known among our regular donors going back to the 1980s, when Bob Hope was an ambassador for donating blood and entertaining the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Combat Center to show appreciation to blood donors in the desert. We hope this year’s tournament will attract many new donors,” said Nicu Cocione, director of Community Blood Bank in Rancho Mirage.
