Firefighters Battle Flames at Indio Herb Shop

Indio police confirm that Cal Fire crews were called to an east valley herb shop around 3:30 this afternoon for a fire at Golden State Herb. The spice processing plant is located on Avenue 45 near Jackson Street. It has been in business for 30 years. According to its website, the plant houses 14 drying tunnels and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Newschannel Three has learned that a shed was destroyed in the blaze. Firefighters arrived quickly and were able to stop the flames from spreading to the main building. No word on an official cause or a damage estimate.
