Family Of Indio Crash Victim Speaks Out

“We just need closure to know what really happened. That would satisfy. How did it happen?” pleaded Rosario Perales, the mother of a woman who died along Indio Boulevard on January 26.

It was around 8 p.m. when 44 year-old Brigitte Jasso was apparently trying to cross the street at Arabia when a motorcycle hit her. Seconds later, she was hit again by a car.

A small memorial is set up near where Jasso died. Now her family is left asking questions.

“What was she doing in the area? Who was she with? We’re looking for any witnesses who can come forward and say what they saw,” said Jasso’s daughter Marissa Hernandez.

Jasso’s family says she was deaf. But they don’t believe her disability was a factor.

“She looked both ways before she crossed because of her being hard of hearing. So I feel she would have looked before crossing the street. Especially because the traffic here is so busy,” said Jessica Jasso, a daughter.

The family heard some witnesses thought someone was chasing Jasso when the accident happened. Police say they have nothing to back that up.

They also say the drivers involved in the accident were not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

“We’re not trying to blame anybody. We want that peace to know what happened to my mom. We miss her a lot,” said Hernandez.
