People Walk To End Alzheimer’s

People celebrated the thirteenth annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Palm Desert Saturday.

More than seven hundred people showed up for the cause to make the walk around Ciivic Center Park. The event benefits the Alzheimer’s Association’s Coachella Valley center. One group walking raised over thirteen thousand dollars. Organizers say the disease affects a significant amount of people in the desert.

“We have about 11,000 people in the valley that suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and probably about another 30,000 people that take care of them,” Steve Harmon of the Alzheimer’s Association said.

There was also a silent auction and raffle prizes, adding to the fundraising efforts.
