Gary Sinise Cancels Palm Desert Appearance After Accident
Actor-musician Gary Sinise canceled an April 12 benefit concert at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert to recuperate from injuries resulting from a car accident, it was announced today.
Sinise, who stars on the CBS television drama series “CSI: NY” and whose Lt. Dan Band is named after his character in the film “Forrest Gump,” was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a crash last Friday in Washington, D.C.
Although his unspecified injuries were said to be “minor,” he did apparently require hospitalization and his Sinise Foundation rescheduled or canceled several upcoming engagements, including the date at the McCallum.
The concert was to have benefited the College of the Desert Veterans Affairs Program and the city of Palm Desert’s Public Safety Academy at COD.
“We are relieved to hear that Mr. Sinise wasn’t seriously injured,” said Jim Hummer, executive director of the College of the Desert Foundation. “We are grateful for the support we have received for the College of the Desert Foundation and these crucial programs, and are excited to be moving forward with the dedication of the Veterans Resource Center this fall.”
Those who have tickets to the concert can get a refund by calling the McCallum box office at (760) 340-2787.
