Snowbirds encouraged to donate unused items to Habitat for Humanity

Snowbirds were encouraged today to donate theirunused furniture, building materials and appliances to a Habitat for Humanitythrift store in Palm Desert to help out others who could use them, a spokesmansaid.

Visitors who come to the Coachella Valley during the winter often leavebehind building supplies, furniture and other practical items from unfinishedhome improvement projects when they head back home.

The Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore in Palm Desert accepts those items,including doors and windows and larger items, manager Tony Scheideman said.

The donations are tax deductible, officials said.

Scheideman urged anyone with questions about making a donation to call(760) 770-3723. The ReStore in Palm Desert is behind Sam’s Club at 34500Gateway Drive, Suite100.

The store is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Scheidman said.
