$144,000 in heroin discovered on tour bus near Salton Sea

Border Patrol agents seized $144,000 worth of heroin Saturday after a man tried to take the drug through the Highway 86 checkpoint while riding a tour bus.

At around 11 a.m., agentsmovedthe tour bus to a secondary search area where they questioned an 18-year-old passenger.

During questioning, agents discovered 4.5 pounds of the drug in two vacuumed-sealed packages strapped to the passenger’s waistband.

The suspect, a Lawfully Admitted Permanent Resident of the United States, was arrested without incident and turned over to DEA for further investigation.
