Six hour La Quinta standoff ends in arrest

A 17 year old male person of interest has been taken into custody, after barricading himself inside a home on the 53000 block of Avenida Madero, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s say this man was wanted in connection to a robbery at a small business in Indio. Police say a suspect, wearing a white bandana, hat and sunglasses demanded cash from the teller and got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

They fled in a black sedan. Police traced the vehicle to the residence in La Quinta. Around 3:30 this afternoon, police surrounded the residence and tried to make contact with the person of interest inside.

The 17 year old was taken into custody just after 9 p.m.

Police are still looking for the getaway driver, another male suspect but no further description.
