Driver dies after losing control of her vehicle in Palm Desert

A deadly crash in Palm Desert over the weekend left one person dead and two people critically injured.

Police say 29-year-old Melissa Ramos lost control of her car and was ejected when it rolled over on Highway 74 between El Paseo and Highway 111. It happened just before 2 a.m. Sunday.

The Desert Hot Springs woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other passengers were critically injured and airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center.

Authorities shut down all northbound traffic on Highway 74 from El Paseo to Highway 111 for seven hours as they investigated the crash and cleared the scene.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation
