Stolen car driver killed in street sweeper crash

The California Highway Patrol says the driver of a stolen car has died after crashing into a street sweeping machine in Riverside County.

The accident happened Monday afternoon in Cherry Valley, 30 miles Northwest of Palm Springs.

CHP Officer Darren Meyer says 22-year old Brentyn Mitchell of Cherry Valley was driving a stolen Honda Civic and ran a stop sign then struck the driver’s side of a county sweeper.

The driver of the sweeper wasn’t hurt.
