Car catches fire at vacant warehouse in Indio

A fire sparked in a vacant warehouse after a car near the building caught fire in Indio Tuesday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 4:26 p.m. in the 83100 block of Highway 111, just east of Jackson Street, according to fire officials.

Cal Fire Battalion Chief Daniel Talbot said the fire was extinguished quickly. Nobody was inside the building and no firefighters were injured as they put out the flames.

Traffic on Highway 111 was affected briefly while crews fought the fire, but it is now running smoothly once again.
