Man arrested for hotel burglary, police seek 2nd suspect

One man has been arrested for burglarizing a hotel in Desert Hot Springs but police are still searching for his accomplice.

The crime took place at a hotel in the 66700 block of 5th Street on Monday, April 21. Two men broke into the hotel’s office and stole several items before taking off.

Authorities said Caleb Nelson, 32, was arrested at his home on Tuesday, April 22. He was identified as the primary suspect during the investigation. He was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on charges of commercial burglary.

The Desert Hot Springs Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify the second suspect who was captured in surveillance photos.

He’s described as a white man of average height, slightly heavy, with medium to dark shoulder-length hair in a loose pony tail. He also appears to have a goatee.
