Cars, houses hit by gunfire in Desert Hot Springs

Desert Hot Springs police are investigating after several houses and at least two cars were hit by gunfire around 11:20 a.m. Thursday.

The shots were fired on Nahum Drive; fortunately nobody was injured. Police said they’re looking for a black truck that was possibly involved in the shooting.

Investigators with the Desert Hot Springs Police Department said there were nine, .45 caliber shell casings found at the scene. The bullets went through cars, garages and houses.

Authorities don’t think it was a drive-by-shooting. They believe the gunman fired at an angle from a corner, and then drove off. There’s no way for them to tell if the shooting was gang-related at this time, but they don’t believe the cars or houses were the intended target.

A few cars have been reported stolen on Nahum Drive in the past week as well.
