Tree fire extinguished in Palm Springs

A tree fire broke out in Palm Springs, but firefighters quickly vanquished the threat before any major damage could occur. The Palm Springs Fire Deparment received a call around 1:45pm on Wednesday about a tree fire near the corner of Avenida Caballeros and Cottonwood Road. Firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes and found the flames had spread to the back of an apartment complex. Battalion Chief Jason Loya said the blaze had broken out a couple windows in two apartments, but his fire crew doused the flames before any serious damage to the structure took place. All the units were clear and residents made it out safely with no reports of injury. Cal Fire and Cathedral City Fire helped aid the city of Palm Springs while PSFD fought the tree fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
