Generous donor pledges $1 million to Desert Arc
Desert Arc is one of the longest running nonprofits in the Coachella Valley, and will soon get the opportunity to expand.
A generous donor is pledging to give $1 million to the organization over a five year period.
Desert Arc will use the money to make some much needed renovations.
Originally built as a garage, the “Number 2 Building” at Desert Arc’s facility on Country Club Drive in Palm Desert will be demolished and expanded to twice its size, making room for the organization’s growing number of developmentally disabled clients.
“We’re kind of crowded in several of our programs,” said Desert Arc Vice President Mitch Blumberg. “We have a waiting list for some of them. There are more people who are determined to have developmental disabilities than there used to be. We need the space because we’re bursting at the seams for several of our most important programs.”
The donation will also help Desert Arc continue to help its clients integrate into the community, earn money and enhance the quality of their lives.
Blumberg said the donor did not wish to publicly come forward at this time.
Desert Arc serves nearly 600 developmentally disabled individuals in the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin.
