Palm Springs police say speed played factor in overnight wreck

One man is in the hospital following an overnight crash in Palm Springs.

The wreck happened around 2:00 Friday at the intersection of north Indian Canyon and Grandvia Valmonte.

A witness who works at a nearby business says the car was racing another vehicle before the crash.

Police did confirm the car was speeding and smashed into a cement sign and cement light pole.

The debris from the crash scattered all over the road forcing police to shut down Indian Canyon between Alejo Road and Tamarisk Road, but they are back open this morning.

Police say the driver suffered moderate injuries.
