Police say bicyclist hit on Ramon appeared to be under the influence
The Cathedral City Police Department is investigating after a bicyclist was hit by a vehicle on Ramon Road Tuesday night. The collision happened at about 5:30 p.m.
According to police, the investigation revealed the bicyclist was riding eastbound in the westbound lanes of Ramon Road just east of Landau Blvd. The man was hit by a vehicle driving westbound in the No. 1 lane of Ramon Rd.
The driver wasn’t injured and was interviewed by officers at the scene.
Officers said the bicyclist was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center with extensive injuries. They also said it appears he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.
