Sheriff’s Department confirms investigation at CVHS over nude pictures

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department confirms that there is an active investigation at Coachella Valley High School, over an incident involving nude pictures and social media.

According to Lt. Misty Reynolds of the sheriff’s department, the incident involved several students that posted nude photos on a twitter account. That twitter account has since been taken down.

We just received this statement from the Coachella Valley Unified School District:

Today the Coachella Valley Unified School District became aware of an incident involving several High School students distributing inappropriate material via a personal TWITTER account. This activity took place after school and was not related to any school activity or function. Nevertheless, the District launched an investigation to determine the origin of the inappropriate material. The District has taken the appropriate disciplinary action and has implemented additional procedures to minimize the possibility of this occurring in the future. The Riverside County Sheriff department is also conducting an investigation into this matter with the full cooperation of the District. We want to remind parents and students to review the reasonable and acceptable use policy regarding the use of Smart phones, mobile devices and computers in any social media environment.

Stay tuned for updates.
