“Stuff the Bus” comes to Palm Desert
Operation SafeHouse is asking the communities of the Coachella Valley to “Stuff the Bus.”
Right now a school bus is parked at the Target shopping center in Palm Desert. It came empty Saturday morning, but people have been filling it all day with toiletries, household supplies and other personal items.
The donations help SafeHouse of the Desert provide a provide refuge and counseling for teens and young adults who have no where to turn.
Last year, the bus was packed from back to front and top to bottom- and organizers hope even more donations fill the bus this year.
“Last year we got such wonderful donations from the Coachella Valley and we’re down to the bare minimum now so this is a perfect time to fill the bus,” said Birgit Phillips, SafeHouse of the Desert.
Donations are being accepted on the bus from 10am to 8pm until Thursday, but you can also drop them off at the palm desert sheriff’s station. Cash donations are also accepted.
