CHP arrests two impaired drivers at sobriety checkpoint

Two people are facing D-U-I charges this morning after a sobriety checkpoint was held in Bermuda Dunes.

The C-H-P set up the checkpoint last night on Washington Street — South of Avenue 41.

483 drivers were screened and two were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Palm Desert Police set up a checkpoint at Highway 1-11 and Deep Canyon on New Years Eve. More than one-thousand vehicles went through that checkpoint — but no drivers were arrested for suspected impaired driving.

Three drivers however were arrested for driving without a valid license. Three citations were also issued and one vehicle was towed.
