Californians to receive latest water-saving figures

Californians are getting their latest report-card on water conservation in the state’s drought.

The state Water Resources Control Board is slated to release monthly per-person water use figures for most California communities Tuesday.

Gov. Jerry Brown asked every Californian a year ago to cut his or her residential water use by 20 percent. Californians in October managed just 6.7 percent water cuts from the same time a year ago. Figures showed that’s partly because of heavy water use by several affluent communities on the southern California coast.

The water board on Tuesday will look at water use for November. While November and December rains have eased the state’s dry spell, 94 percent of the state remains in severe drought.
