18-year-old faces charges after suspected DUI crash in Palm Desert

An 18-year-old woman is facing charges for allegedly driving drunk and rolling her car multiple times on Hovley Lane East in Palm Desert Monday night.

According to a release from the Palm Desert Police Department, Julia Rose White is accused of DUI and causing minor injuries in the crash that happened at about 8:45 p.m.

Officers said when they arrived to Hovley Lane East, near Portola Avenue, they found a 2007 Ford Focus in the center median. The investigation revealed that White lost control of the car and collided with the center median, causing the vehicle to overturn several times before coming to a rest on its wheels.

The police department said alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.

Two passengers were in the car with White; a 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl. All three of them were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, officers said in the release.

Westbound Hovley Lane East was shut down to traffic while officers investigated the crash. Eastbound traffic was re-routed during that time.

Officers said criminal charges will be filed on White while she’s out of custody. They haven’t released a booking photo of her yet. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Palm Desert Police Department at (760) 836-1600.

Police advise the community to call 911 to report suspected drunk drivers.
