Register for Indio CERT training class

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training will be offered in Indio over the course of three days at the end of February. The class is open to the public.

Organizers said CERT training is a free 20-hour class and only those who complete the 20-hour training, including practical exercises with hands-on instruction, will receive a certificate of completion and a free CERT kit.

Students will learn how to organize themselves during a disaster, manage utilities, extinguish small fires, search for and rescue survivors, and provide basic disaster medical care.

Class size is limited to the first 40 people who register. The three-day instructional course takes place at Sun City Shadow Hills, Santa Rosa Clubhouse at 81420 North Sun City Boulevard in Indio.

CERT training class schedule:

February 27 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
February 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
March 1 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

You can register for CERT training online or call (951) 955-4700. You should do so as soon as possible given the limited class size.

Organizers said Community Emergency Response Team training is a positive and realistic approach to handling emergency and disaster situations. CERT promotes readiness, self-sufficiency, teamwork, rescuer safety, and doing the greatest good for the greatest number of people.
