19-year-old man dies after being shot in the head in DHS

A man was brought to Desert Regional Medical Center Thursday after being shot in the head. The Desert Hot Springs Police Department was called to the hospital just after 3 p.m. but the victim had already passed away, according to a release.

He hasn’t been identified but the coroner’s office said he was a 19-year-old Hispanic man.

Officers don’t have a lot of information to go on at this point, but the preliminary investigation revealed the shooting may have occurred on the numbered streets between 8th Street and Pierson Boulevard, from West Drive to Palm Drive.

It’s unclear how he arrived to the hospital.

The victim is in the hand’s of the Riverside County Coroner’s Office and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call the Desert Hot Springs Police Department at 760-329-2904.
