Palm Springs man busted with meth & cocaine

A 70-year-old Palm Springs man was arrested Thursday after a search warrant revealed over 50 grams of methamphetamine and cocaine, and a substantial amount of GHB, commonly referred to as the date rape drug.

David Nemeth was taken into custody around 2 p.m. after the Coachella Valley Narcotics Task Force served a warrant at his home, located in the 1980 block of Farrell Drive in Palm Springs.

Officers confiscated over 25 grams of methamphetamine and over 25 grams of cocaine. They also confiscated the gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB).

According to the release, the narcotics were worth more than $8,000 on the street.

Nemeth was arrested and booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning for possession of methamphetamine for sales and possession of a controlled substance for sales.

Officers ask anyone with information regarding illegal narcotic activity in their community to call Valley Crime Stoppers at 760-341-7867 (STOP), or CVNTF Sergeant Schiavone at 760-323-8134.
