260 teachers stage sick-out at Desert Sands schools

According to Desert Sands Unified School District, 260 teachers staged a planned sick out on Wednesday. According to District Spokesperson Mary Perry, they were forced to call in subs and no education services were disrupted, and all classes went on as planned.

“The sick-out was organized and is not allowed per the contract negotiating agreement,” says Perry. “Teachers are expected to return back to their classrooms tomorrow,” says Perry.

The sick-out stems from a contract dispute with the district that has been going on for several months.
