New grocery store to open in La Quinta Cove
It’s been a long time since there’s been a grocery store in the La Quinta Cove.
In the last two years the Fresh & Easy and Ralph’s in the Cove closed.
But soon a new grocery store will fill the empty Fresh & Easy space.
It’s called Jules Market and it’s the first of it’s kind, in the country.
“We’re looking at organic products and whatever else is available to us to bring to La Quinta. Whatever they want is what we’re going to bring them,” store manager Daniel Cullifer said.
Cullifer and his brother decided to create the very first Jules after noticing a need in the community.
“They were really happy to hear we were wanting to bring a new grocery store to the area. Especially so close to the Cove because there’s nothing within a 3-mile radius that’s an actual grocery store. So it’s definitely something that’s needed,” Cullifer said.
They’re in the early stages of construction, however the store said they plan to source many of their products from right here in our valley.
“Especially our produce. We’re looking for people in our semi-close area. Within a 50-mile, 100-mile radius to bring us our produce so it will be as fresh as possible,” Cullifer said.
Ron Hudson lives in the Cove and said it’s about time
“I have to go way down to the 111 so you’re going around 5 miles or more to go out of the Cove so having something out here is going to be quite nice,” Hudson said.
Other people said they welcome the newcomer.
“Great, we lost two here in old town La Quinta so I think it would be great to get another grocery store,” Tom McKenna who lives in La Quinta said.
Cullifer said they hope to have their grand opening on Aug. 13, the birthday of the grandfather who the store is named after.
