3 arrested for stealing mail in Temecula
A Sun City woman and two men from North Carolina were arrested in Temecula over the weekend after police found stolen US mail in their car.
The mail theft was reported near Clubhouse Drive and Pechanga Parkway at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Officers with the Temecula Police Department were told a woman driving a black sedan was involved in the theft.
Officers said they found the suspect’s vehicle near Temecula Parkway and Bedford Court. The three suspects were detained while police investigated.
Officers found a large amount of stolen US mail and additional stolen property in the car, which they determined had been taken during a recent vehicle burglary in the 46000 block of Miner Trail, according to the release.
Sun City resident Lisa Whitaker, 28, was arrested on charges of burglary and conspiracy. David Brown, 44, and 22-year-old Corey Richardson, both from Mill Creek, North Carolina, were also arrested on the same charges.
It’s unclear how the three suspects are acquainted with each other. They were all booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is handling the investigation. Anyone with information about the mail theft is asked to call Deputy Brooks with the Temecula Police Department at 951-696-3000.
