Motorcyclist suffers major injuries in Palm Springs crash

A motorcyclist sustained major injuries after crashing into two vehicles on North Palm Canyon Drive Monday morning.

According to Palm Springs Police, just after 11:30 a.m. they responded to an injury traffic collision in the area of North Palm Canyon Drive and Via Olivera. The preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle rider struck the back of a pick up truck that was stopped in the northbound lane of North Palm Canyon Drive, it then struck the left side of a Ford van that was moving in the Northbound lanes of North Palm Canyon Drive, this caused the motorcyclist to collide with the roadway.

Police say the motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital with major injuries, his identity has not been released.

Police shut down North Palm Canyon between Racquet Club Drive and Via Escuela Drive while they investigated and cleared the crash wreckage from the scene. The roadway was reopened at 4:00 p.m.
