Coachella man arrested after burglary and bomb threat

A bomb threat following a vehicle and store burglary in Coachella landed a 31-year-old man behind bars Sunday.

Around 10 a.m. police arrested Michael Guerra. He’s accused of breaking into a car in a parking lot on the 49000 block of Grapefruit Boulevard.

Coachella police got another call from a sporting goods store in the same shopping complex. The caller said Guerra broke into a secure area that contained firearms. He grabbed a shot gun and yelled he had a bomb strapped to himself.

The responding officer in the parking lot was able to arrest Guerra without incident.

No explosives were found and no one was hurt. A witness identified him as the man involved in the car burglary.

Guerra was booked into the Riverside County jail for vehicle burglary, vandalism and commercial burglary.
