Efforts to save Salton Sea include visitor center

People from across the Coachella Valley gathered Saturday to continue the effort to save the Salton Sea.

A pilot project kicks off with plans to start testing water with wet labs, donated by the Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians.

A company called Agess Inc. is working to educate the community and develop sea agriculture and economy with a visitor center.

“We want to utilize that to have a place where people can come and learn more about Salton Sea history and all the anticipated companies that could be involved in the mitigation and management of the Salton Sea,” said Nathan White, CEO of Agess Inc.

Organizers said the Salton Sea has a lot of potential, but in order for that potential to be realized, the entire community needs to come together to restore the vital resource.
