Man behind bars after motorcycle crash in Cathedral City

Cathedral City Police are investigating a crash involving a truck and motorcycle at the intersection of Whispering Palms Trail and Ramon Road.

Police said it happened around 7 p.m. Friday night.

Officers said the motorcycle rider was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the man in the pickup truck sustained minor injuries.

Police have arrested the truck driver Elver Hernandez, 26, of Cathedral City for driving under the influence of alcohol. He is being held at theSmith Correctional Facility in Banning on $1-million dollars bail.

Officers said the eastbound lanes of Ramon Road and the southbound lanes of Whispering Palms Trail will remain closed for a few hours for the investigation.
