Toddler dies after rollover crash near Desert Center

Update: The California Highway Patrol said a 3-year-old girl died after a rollover crash near Desert Center on Saturday.

The crash happened just before 3 p.m. on the westbound side of Interstate 10.
The minivan was carrying a family of four from Phoenix when the vehicle ran off the freeway and overturned multiple times.

The 3-year-old girl was ejected from the minivan and transported to JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio with her 13-year-old sister and their parents. The 3-year-old was later airlifted from JFK to Loma Linda Medical Center where she died.

Her older sister suffered major injuries while their parents sustained moderate injuries.

The CHP said a child seat was in the vehicle, but there is no word if the girl was properly secured.

The crash is under investigation.

Four people are in the hospital after a rollover crash near Desert Center on Saturday.

Authorities said it happened just before 3 p.m. on the westbound side of Interstate 10.

First responders said two people suffered severe injuries while the other two suffered moderate injuries.

No word what caused the crash.
