Thermal teen dead after rollover crash Saturday

California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers are investigating a rollover crash that killed a teenager in Thermal early Saturday morning.

17-year-old Luis Perez-Pacheco died shortly after being taken to JFK Memorial Hospital with major head injuries.

The crash happened just after 1 a.m. near the intersection of Harrison Street and 68th Avenue.

Officers said after hitting a guardrail, both the driver and passenger were ejected out of the car.

The driver was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center with major injuries.

Officers said both Perez-Pacheco and the driver were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
