Fire destroys home in Coachella
A fire in Coachella destroys a home late Saturday night.
The fire was reported at 11:14 p.m. by Cal Fire officials. It happened on Van Buren Street, north of Avenue 54.
Fire officials say the single-story, single-family home was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.
It took Cal Fire some time to put out the flames because of the lack water in the area. Water had to be shuttled in from other part of the neighborhood in order to fight the flames.
The home was abandoned at the time, and the cause is under investigation.
