Soldiers Organized Services wants to give rides to veterans

A valley organization is asking for your help. Soldiers Organized Services, or SOS, is hoping to expand its services, wanting to give rides to veterans needing to go to Loma Linda Hospital and other local doctors’ appointments.

“We’re starting to provide veterans in our community rides to local doctors’ offices, a couple of rides a week to local doctors’ to offices to Loma Linda,” said Erica Stone, the founding director of SOS.

A day doesn’t go by without a call or an email from someone needing help getting to a doctor’s appointment. Now SOS wants to answer that call.

“Phil from Phil’s Automotive calls me up out of the blue and says ‘Erica, I have a handicapped van. And I know you only provide rides for active military but would you have a need for this?'” Stone said.

The van is the first step; now they need the money.

“We need to have the funding. So we’re on a campaign to raise the first part of $25,000 to insure it, register it and have gas available for the rides,” Stone said.
