PSPD says driver killed in crash likely suffered medical emergency

The Palm Springs Police Department said a driver has died after crashing into a palm tree near the intersection of E. Ramon Road and S. Indian Canyon Way on Friday morning.

There was only one vehicle involved in the crash, and officers said it’s likely the driver suffered a medical emergency prior to the collision. However, the official cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Police haven’t released any other details about the vehicle.

The victim was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center where he/she later died. The coroner’s office is expected to release the victim’s identity once the family is notified.

KESQ and CBS Local 2 will provide updates when we hear back from the coroner’s office and Palm Springs Police Department.
