Toxic algae bloom causes closure of Lake Elsinore
Swimming, boating or engaging in any other form of recreational activity in Lake Elsinore has been declared off-limits due to a dramatic rise in what toxic algae throughout the lake.
The city of Lake Elsinore ordered the entire body of water closed Thursday after the Southern California Coastal Water Research Project determined that the presence of blue-green algae had reached harmful proportions.
