Desert Hot Springs church damaged by flooding

Water flooded part of a Desert Hot Springs church Thursday morning. The flooding was reported at 8:53 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church at 64565 Pierson Blvd., according to April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.

She said crews arrived to find one to two inches of water in about 25 percent of the church, but not actively flowing into the building. By 10:30 a.m., firefighters had removed the standing water from the building to prevent seepage into the church’s walls, Newman said.

Crews from the Mission Springs Water District were on scene to assess the cause of the flooding. Firefighters helped move furniture out of the building, and Newman said church members also called upon a salvage company for assistance.

The church has been experiencing financial issues, and are asking the public to help if they can, if you would like to donate to the church repairs you can access their information at dhschristlutheran.org
