EXCLUSIVE: Mark Geragos to represent victim of alleged rock throwing assault
High-profile attorney Mark Geragos will be representing the victim of an alleged rock throwing assault that put a man in a coma for more than a week.
Trey O’Connor, 18, is now able to stand and walk after a severe head injury in August. O’Conner was in a coma for more than a week after being the victim of an alleged rock throwing assault at a party in Palm Desert in August. Over the past several weeks O’Connor has been recovering.
“I am doing really well my body is completely normal. I can walk and I can run,” O’Conner said.
O’Conner still has trouble forming sentences but that issue is getting better. Luis Gomez, Nickolas Hernandez and Miguel Ramirez, all 18 years old, have pleaded not guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy charges.
A 17-year-old is also accused of throwing the rock from a truck that hit O’Connor in the head. The minor faces a sentence-enhancing allegation of leaving O’Connor comatose, indicating prosecutors believe he threw the rock.
O’Conner now has some very high profile representation. Celebrity attorney Mark Geragos will now be at his side. Geragos has represented people such as Michael Jackson, Winona Ryder and Scott Peterson.
Geragos spoke exclusively to KESQ and CBS Local 2 reporter Joe Galli.
“I am here and I came down specifically because I want to ensure that justice is done and make sure that Trey is taken care of,” said Geragos.
Courtroom proceedings will continue Friday morning at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.
