Local political party offices preparing for Election Day

The home stretch is here. “We have a lot of work to be done before the election on Tuesday,” Elle Kurpiewski with the Democratic Headquarters of the Desert said. “We’ve got more work to do, and lets stay focused.” Right now, it’s all hands on deck at local party offices. “Volunteers every day,” Joy Miedecke with the East Valley Republican Women Federated said. “More and more volunteers every day. Every day we are flooded with people.” Both party offices said they’ve been getting the word out not just to local voters, but to others in key battleground states. “The numbers are the highest,” Miedecke said. “I believe we’re doing about 50,000 calls a day out of California.” With phone banks staying pretty busy at local party offices throughout the valley, party leaders like Kurpiewski and Miedecke said they’ve had many voters come in with concerns of missing mail-in ballots, less than a week before Election Day. “There’s been probably half of a dozen people that came in this morning and said, ‘Where’s my ballot,” Kurpiewski said. “It’s a concern. There’s no doubt about it.” Both parties said they’re prepared to help every voter they can to “rock the vote.” “They’ve got to be guided by their hearts,” Miedecke said. “Maybe you don’t feel like going out and voting. It doesn’t matter. You’ve got to do it.” Both Kurpiewski and Miedecke said if you’ve been having trouble receiving your mail-in ballots — to contact the Riverside County Voter Registrar’s Office. They said both offices will be offering rides to voters on Election Day.
