Run with Los Muertos 5K honors loved ones in Coachella

The streets of downtown Coachella were filled with runners and exotic displays remembering those who have passed away. Many came out for the 4th annual run with Los Muertos 5K held in front of city hall and the Pueblo Viejo district of downtown. The event featured live music and dancing, along with Day of the Dead art displays. Some who took part in the 5K said they ran in honor of a friend or family member who died. “I have my mother’s name on my shirt, when she passed away in 2001 to cancer,” runner James Shahbakhti said. “It was doing it for the city, for the cause and also doing it for my mother.” Participants also honored their loved ones by wearing costumes or t-shirts. as well as glow-in-the dark gear.
