Ross Mathews gets star on Palm Springs Walk of Stars
You may know him as the intern on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” or from his many years hosting red carpets for E! News. Now many in the Coachella Valley will know Ross Mathews as the newest addition to the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.
Many attending his star ceremony in Palm Springs Saturday, sharing kind words and stories about the hilarious talk show host. Among his many accolades Mathews is one of the hosts of “Hollywood Today Live” and can be heard weekly on his podcast “Straight Talk with Ross Mathews.” Now he’s the 401st star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.
After graciously thanking his friends and family, Mathews explained what he loves most about the city that’s cemented him in its history.
“My favorite thing about this city is the way I feel when I’m here. And that comes from what I see around me the nature, it comes from the architecture, the art and it comes mostly from the people who are so kind and really relaxed,” Mathews said.
Mathews might even be looking into a political future here in the desert.
“I’m announcing right now that I’m running for mayor in the year 2032, or 2036 or 2038. I gotta talk to Mayor Moon and see when he’s done and then I’ll step in. Every hour is happy hour,” Mathews said.
Mathews’ partner, Salvador, weighed in on his political future.
“I love Ross Mathews as mayor, because I can be the first gentleman and just show up and wave like this. I mean it’s all the work and no responsibility for me,” Salvador Camarena said.
Whether he’s running for public office or playing trivia at Toucans Tiki Lounge, Ross Mathews is now a permanent member of our community.
