Suspect arrested in Rancho Mirage sexual assault case

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department says they have arrested a suspect in an alleged sexual assault that occurred last week at a Rancho Mirage park.

According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Department late Monday, that on November 3rd, at 5:48 pm, officers assigned to the Rancho Mirage Police Department responded to a report of a possible sexual assault that occurred at the Michael F. Wolfson Park in the city of Rancho Mirage. Preliminary investigation revealed a Black male befriended the victim and both walked to the wash area, west of the park where the assault took place.

Investigators from the Palm Desert Station’s Investigations Bureau responded and assumed the investigation. On November 7th, at 9:00 am, Investigators made an arrest of a 16 year old male juvenile who resides in the city of Rancho Mirage. The suspect was booked into the Indio Juvenile Hall on sexual assault charges.
