2 taken to hospital after fire sparks in Thermal

Two women were taken to the hospital after suffering smoke inhalation when a fire ignited a house in Thermal Tuesday morning.

Fire crews were called to the residential structure fire in the 85000 block of Middleton Street at about 7 a.m.

The fire was contained to the 1,400-square-foot home shortly after. Firefighters were expected to remain at the scene for a few hours to make sure the fire doesn’t ignite again. There was no estimate on the total damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The American Red Cross has stepped in to assist the two women who are now without a home.

Now that cooler weather is settling into the desert, KESQ and CBS Local 2 just put out a warning to remind folks to be careful while heating their homes. It’s unknown at this time if heating had anything to do with the Thermal house fire, we’ll have updates as crews continue to investigate.
