Woman arrested for hit & run crash involving golf cart

A 44-year-old woman from Calexico has been arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run after allegedly colliding with a golf cart on Country Club Drive in Palm Desert Monday night.

Officers said Guadalupe De La Paz was driving an SUV just west of Portola Avenue at about 10 p.m. when she injured a man after striking the golf cart he was driving. De La Paz fled the scene and the man was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The investigation led officers to De La Paz later Monday night where she was working at a business located on Country Club Drive and Vista Del Sol in Rancho Mirage, about a half mile away from the crash scene.

She was taken to the hospital as a precaution before being booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio. De La Paz was released from jail after posting $10,000 bail on Tuesday, according to jail records.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the Palm Desert Police Department at 760 836-1600. You can also report a tip anonymously to Valley Crime Stoppers at 760 341-7867.
