Indio intersection reopens after water main break

An Indio intersection has reopened after being shut down throughout the day Thursday following a water main break which caused severe road damage.

The water main broke at Grace Street and Requa Avenue. As part of the Valley Sanitary District’s Requa Sewer Project, an AC water main had to be shut down and partially replaced with new material due to the sensitive nature of the AC water pipe, officials said Thursday morning.

The Valley Sanitary District completed the road repairs at about 6 p.m. Thursday and the intersection was reopened. Water service has also been restored to the customers in the area.

The City of Indio’s Public Works Department and Indio Water Authority worked with VSD to restore water service, make repairs and control traffic in the area.
